چکیده

Development of methods to manipulate the estrous cycle so that all cows are in estrus during a short, predefined period (synchronized estrus) while maintaining normal fertility has been a difficult goal to achieve, but has resulted in the creation of valuable synchronization protocols that are available to producers today. Although implementation of estrus synchronization and AI will improve the profitability of beef operations, no more than 3 to 5% of all beef operations in the U.S. utilize the technology (Patterson et. al., 2001). The major barriers to utilization of estrus synchronization and AI are time and labor (Kesler, 2003). During the past 25 years, protocols have been developed that minimize time and labor, and yield excellent pregnancy rates. One of the most important steps to creating the wide variety of effective protocols that are available today began with the understanding of follicular waves and the development of the Ovsynch protocol (illustrated in Figure 1). Ovsynch was originally created for use in dairy cattle, however the basic elements (GnRH followed by PGF2α seven days later) have as much value in beef cattle. Three protocols (Select Synch, CO-Synch, and Hybrid Synch) have emerged for use in beef cattle and will be discussed within this manuscript.

The study was conducted to know the effect of flushed feeding on estrus synchronization and conception rate of Holstein ÍLocal crossbred cow’s after using the GnRH (fertagyl) and PGF2α hormone. As a representative sample 20 Holstein ÍLocal crossbred cows were chosen from Chittagong Cantonment Military Dairy Farm in Bangladesh and the experimental work was carried out for 60 days. Ten cows were ...

Synchronization of Estrus in Cattle

Numbers of estrus synchronization programmes are available in cattle based on the use of various hormones like progesterone, prostaglandin F2a and their various combinations with other hormones like estrogen and Gonadotrophin Releasing hormone (GnRH). Selection of appropriate estrus synchronization protocol should be made on the basis of management capabilities and expectations of the farmer. S...

ارزیابی عملکرد تولیدمثلی میش‌های افشاری با استفاده از روشی کوتاه مدت در هم زمانی فحلی در خارج از فصل تولیدمثلی

Estrus synchronization is a valuable management tool that has been employed in enhancing reproductive efficiency in ewes. This study was conducted to investigate the reproductive performance of ewes with short and long-term estrous synchronization programs accompanied by eCG or GnRH during the non-breeding season. A total of 48 Afshari ewes were randomly selected and divided into two groups. In...

Synchronization of ovarian follicular waves with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist to increase the precision of estrus in cattle: a review.

Treatment with GnRH and PGF2 alpha is a practical method for controlling ovarian follicular and luteal functions and increasing the precision of estrus synchronization in cyclic and acyclic postpartum cows and heifers. This method reduces considerably the period of time needed for estrus detection; it synchronizes the estrous cycle of 70 to 80% of the cyclic cows to within a 4-d interval withou...

Product Development for Estrous Synchronization : Beef Cattle

Physiological principals underlying synchronization of estrus identified 1) hormones naturally controlling the estrous cycle of cattle, 2) hormones commercially available, 3) mode of action of the hormones commercially available, and 4) when/how they might be used to manage estrus and breeding of beef cattle. The products available are progestogens (melengestrol acetate (MGA) and progesterone d...
